Resum
Ultrastructural ornamentation of the dermal skeleton of some species of Carcharhiniformes
Little pit-like cavities in the anterior part of dermal denticles from severa1 species of Carcharhiniformes have been observed. These cavities are variable in depth, and they seem only to affect the enameloid. An hypothethical explanation about its origin claims that they are impressions of ameloblasts.
