Resum
On the typological classification of the dermal skeleton in Sharks (Chondrichthyes)
The dermal denticles of 34 shark species have been studied. The typological grouping suggested by Reif (1982) has been checked with the results obtained. Six groups of dermal denticles have been defined on the basis of their density, size, implantation, number of keels and thickness. The great adaptative ability of the dermal denticles and the importance of morphological convergences in their evolution are stressed.
