Estructura del hábitat y dominios vitales en Podarcis hispanica (Steindachner, 1870)

Abstract

Habitat structure and home ranges of Podarcis hispanica (Steindachner, 1870)
The use of space in a population of Iberian Wall Lizard, Podarcis hispanica, from the Sierra de Francia (province of Salamanca, Spain) is studied. Strong variation in home range size between individuals and a high degree of overlaping between them is found. The existence of rocky crevices seems to be for this species the most important feature of its habitat. Social structure and territoriality of the population is discussed in relation to the preferential use of certain rocky areas.
