Abstract

Three species constitute the known represetation of the family Cribrilinidae Hincks, 1880 in the Basque Coast: Figularia figularis (Johnston, 1847). Cribrilina punctata (Hassall, 1841) y Puellina innsominata agree with those described in the literature. For C.punctuata, differences have been found in such parameters as zooidal size, size of the secondary orifice and the length of the avicularia. The individuals of this species have been found to show oly three oral spies in the most cases, and rarely four, which differs from what has been tradictionally described by several authors. The poor knowledge of the family Cribrilinidae in the whole Cantabria coast is probably due to the fact that sampling has been carried out in a few habitats (mainly littoral and infralittoral). Additional sampling of circalitoral and caves among others will no doubt prove that this family is represented in this regions by more species.
