Abstract

The use of the Atlantic coast of Galicia íJVW Spain) by migrating waders is studied on the basis of spring counts made at the Ría de Arosa, Ría de Corme y Laxe and Ría de Vigo and autumn counts made at the Ría de Arosa. The flight strategies adopted by species wintering on the Mrican coast mean that most species halt at Galician sites in only moderate-to-small numbers in spring and in similarly smaii contingents between early July and late September, when Tringa totanus is the predominant species.
