Resumen

Ecology of soil springtails (Collembola, Insecta) from the Izolrn-oak wood of the Montseny mountains (Barcelona, Spain)
There are three large lithological areas in the holm-oak wood of Montseny, with soils that differ in the thickness of the organic horizons and in the pH of the humus. In these soils, diversity and richness on Collembolan species are high, rnainly on the areas in which the fermentation layer of the edafic profile is well developed. The following species have been found among others: Ceratophysella denticulata, Folsomia manolachei, Isotoma notabilis, Entomobrya nivalis, Lepidocyrtus lanuginosus and Sphaeridia pumilu; there is additionally a high number of species with low dominance and three endemic ones. The kind of substratum and the depth of soil profile greatly influence the distribution of species and thus each horizon of the three types of soil shows a characteristic population composition.
