Notas preliminares sobre cromosomas de Machilida (Insecta Thysanura)

Abstract

The chromosomal analysis of Machilis noctis Bach, 1976 from spermatogonial cells in metaphase I and II has evidenced n = 15 elements. Therefore, the diploid number is 2n = 30. The chromosomes arc of similar size except one which is larger, and of metacentric shape mostly. The significance of this caryotype for the taxonomy and evolution of Machilida remains to be solved in future studies on other related species.
